  • Pencil/pen
  • An animal OR a phone/computer OR an image of an animal

Time: 20 minutes

Age Range: 3 – 6

This activity will have kids pick an animal and try to copy it by drawing it, acting like it, and making the sounds it makes.

Pick an animal!

It can be a pet, a bird you see outside your window, an insect in your home, or any other animal.

If you can’t find one, look in a book or online with an adult.

What does the animal look like?

Write or draw something about what it looks like.

What does the animal sound like? Try to repeat the animal’s sound.

What does the animal feel like?

If you can’t feel it, what do you think it would feel like?

Find something that feels like the animal (like a soft pillow or a hard rock).

How do you think this animal spends their day?

Make a story about your animal.

Where does it live? What does it like? What other animals is it friends with?

Do any other animal observations you want!
